Cretaceous Earth
65 - 144 Million Years Ago

During the Early Cretaceous, the continent of Pangaea continued to break apart into the continental landmasses of Laurasia and Gondwana.  As the continents continued to separate most of the land bridges disappeared which isolated dinosaurs to evolve along different paths.

The lower section of the upper left quadrant of the globe represents the Chixulub impact site, where scientists believe that a huge asteroid struck the earth approximately 65 million years ago, and was the demise of the dinosaurs.
