Joe was born in Los Angeles, California in 1943, and he was raised in Glendale California where he studied art and photography at Glendale City College.  He continued his studies in art at Long Beach State College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.  After graduation in 1969, he served in the United States Army which took him to Vietnam.  Returning to the states, he began a retail career and eventually became an award winning merchandiser

In 1989, Joe was forced to take a sabbatical which inspired him to write a novel on dinosaurs which has been a fascination of his since he was a child.  The novel was completed in 1991 and is titled "Newbreed."

In 1997, he decided to combine his knowledge of retail, art and dinosaurs and opened the Dawn of Time art gallery.  He wanted to give dinosaur artists a venue for their work.  Working at the gallery, unleashed a long suppressed desire to sculpt.  The result of his creativity was a sculpture of a Tyrannosaurus rex entitled "Rage."

Joe now lives in Kansas City, Missouri where he continues to sculpt, paint and study dinosaurs.  He is a member of the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology.
